About Kathleen Macferran

Kathleen Macferran is a Certified Trainer of Nonviolent Communication and offers Nonviolent Communication (NVC) training to schools, community groups, churches, hospitals, families, correctional officers, and prison inmates. She is one of the trainers for the Freedom Project, an affiliate organization of CNVC that strengthens community safety through supporting the transformation of prisoners into peacemakers. In addition to working with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, Kathleen has been the Music Director of the Rainier Chamber Winds for the past 16 years. Kathleen views the music ensemble as a wonderful metaphor for social organization since the well being of one individual clearly depends on the well being of all.

Kathleen offers trainings in concrete skills of nonviolence leading to reconciliation with ourselves, our loved ones and the community.

A Telephone Course (Telecourse) with CNVC Certified Trainer Kathleen Macferran from Bainbridge Island, Washington, USA

One Monday a month (6 Classes) from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM PDT, March - September 2010

Mondays, March 15 – September 13, 2010 • 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM PDT (6:00 PM GMT)

Fee: $120.00 USD

This new forum is intended to support CNVC trainer candidates in their path to certification. This telecourse will provide a place for trainer candidates to ask questions and explore their personal learning edges around the understanding and integration of the NVC process. Looking at the nuances of living, understanding and sharing NVC, will support participants in integrating NVC into all aspects of his/her daily life.

Course Overview

The six classes will include:

  • March 15 - What is NVC? Integration of 5 elements and grounding in NVC consciousness
  • April 19 - Key Differentiations
  • May 10 - Role Playing
  • June 21 - Receiving and Offering Feedback, Responding to "Negative" Feedback
  • July - No Class
  • August 9 - Group Facilitation
  • September 13 - NVC Processes including hearing anger, hearing “no,” mourning, screaming in giraffe, self-empathy, expressing and receiving gratitude.

Prerequisites: Intermediate to advanced NVC skills and currently accepted into CNVC trainer candidate program or have intentions to enter the program once CNVC reopens it.
